We asked Vadim Mikhailov, head of the product department for cloud products, a few questions about data security in a war
Did the company have new customers who came after the start of the war in order to secure their data?
Any IT infrastructure of a company is critical to its business, so after the outbreak of war, many customers began to actively move their IT infrastructure to safer places. Some customers transferred their servers to European data centers, some of them migrated to Public Cloud, large customers deployed Privat Cloud.
We see an increase in applications for the organization of virtual infrastructures both in our cloud infrastructure and in partner clouds DEAC (Latvia), AZURE (Microsoft).
What are the most common requests your clients come to you with?
Smaller clients are more likely to ask about deploying a Virtual Machine (VM) to migrate accounting systems to the public cloud and assist with migration. There are many requests for the deployment of backup systems Disaster Recovery, Backup. For such requests, we recommend that customers pay attention to solutions based on AZURE (Microsoft). Many requests come in to provide Public Cloud resources. Clouds are especially popular in Europe.
Do customers have requests for products that are not in the company's product line, and what are those products?
The list of cloud services in the Datagroup-Volia product portfolio now fully satisfies the current needs of the client. We can offer cloud infrastructure from global providers such as Microsoft and our own cloud infrastructure. And also, if necessary, we can assist in moving, deploy resources in AZURE, build Privat Cloud.
What do you recommend to companies that previously stored all their work information on their servers?
Now the IT market is undergoing a transformation, and many customers are moving to the "as the services" model, when the customer takes the service, and the provider is responsible for the infrastructure. Cloud services offer a solution where the client receives the necessary resources here and now with the necessary parameters and without attracting significant investments required for the purchase of hardware.
Therefore, we recommend that customers move to the clouds, which will allow them to save their data, minimize IT risks associated with hostilities, and direct potential investments in the purchase of hardware to support/develop their business.
What can you tell us about solving cybersecurity problems, in particular, about protection against DDoS attacks?
Datagroup, as a leading communications provider and a critical infrastructure company in Ukraine, daily guards the cybersecurity of the state. Now the telecommunications infrastructure of our country is under the constant sight of hostile hacker groups. According to the State Service for Special Communications, since the beginning of hostilities, Ukraine has been subject to more than 3,000 organized DDoS attacks. The record was 275 DDoS attacks per day. The most powerful of them at their peak exceeded 100 Gbps.
While Russian missiles are attacking the physical infrastructure, Russian hackers are attacking the information infrastructure - financial, government and telecommunications.
During the first month of the war, our specialists repelled more than 350 DDoS attacks on the country's telecommunications network.
Despite all the hacker attacks and attempts to undermine the information security of the country, they were all repulsed. All company services are provided as usual. We also always promptly respond to the growth in the power of DDoS attacks and improve our service to protect against them.
