Datagroup Company took part in the financing of research and scientific projects for the implementation of wireless technologies of the 4th generation mobile communication network.
The operator has entered the working group, coordinated by the National Commission for Communications and Information Systems Regulation for the study of frequency bands in Ukraine wherein it is possible to build 4G networks. Besides Datagroup and the largest mobile communication operators (Kievstar, MTS Ukraine and Astelit), such operators as International Telecommunications, Intellectual Communications (Giraffe), and First Investment Union (FIU), interested in the development of new generation of communication, have participated in the working group.
Analysys Mason, the British company, has been chosen by participants of the working group as a foreign consultant, which will study the radio frequency resource (RFR) of Ukraine and will provide its recommendations for the harmonization of 4G/LTE development. The operators have decided to support the state and to pay the all required sum for the research scientific work and the detailed study of all recommended bands.
Analysys Mason will also develop the proposals for changes in the Ukrainian legislation, the methodology for the radio frequencies value calculation for tendering scheduled for 2017. In the course of work the recommendations will be also elaborated for calculation of the cost of rental payment for the use of radio frequencies in each specific band, the need for radio frequencies reallocation procedure among the operators (refarming) will be studied, and recommendations on the procedures of its performance will be developed.
Datagroup currently holds the licenses for the use of RFR in the band 1.4 GHz — one of strategically attractive bands for 4G development. The company’s contribution in the research scientific work for 4G development consists in the confirmation of Datagroup desire to provide every possible assistance to the implementation and development in the territory of Ukraine of the latest technologies, the appearance of the highest quality telecommunication services on the domestic market.
The tender on the right to use the radio frequencies for development of the 4th generation technologies shall significantly increase the budget revenues, will open up the possibilities for development of all branches in Ukraine, as well as will facilitate the appearance of new prospects for investments attraction in the
IT-industry, and therefore — in other branches.
