Datagroup made a significant step towards sustainable development. In July 2021, the company became a new member of the UN Global Compact in Ukraine. By becoming a party to the UN Global Compact, the company undertakes to adhere to ten principles in four main areas: protection of human rights, labor relations, environmental engineering, and the fight against corruption (*un.org).
"We fully share the ten principles of the UN Global Compact and are ready to cooperate in the development and implementation of best social and corporate practices. The global agreement provides a unique opportunity to join the network of the world's leading companies to share experiences and successful business practices in this area. Sustainable UN goals can only be achieved through cooperation and partnership. As a socially responsible company, we are constantly striving to help to change the lives of Ukrainians for the better by providing them with modern digital services and products. In addition, we ultimately adhere to one of the most important principles of doing business — zero tolerance for corruption, the same we expect and demand from our counterparties. Datagroup pays special attention to creating reliable and efficient supply chain management to ensure transparent business, which is one of the cross-cutting issues in terms of the four areas of the UN Global Compact. That is why we join the international team of involved people to work together and implement measures even more efficiently", said Mykhailo Shelemba, Datagroup CEO.
Currently, the company continues to work on achieving sustainable development goals, the main of which are as follows:
- ensuring a healthy lifestyle and promoting the well-being of employees of all ages. In this regard, the company already provides employees with access to quality basic health services and safe, efficient, high-quality, and inexpensive basic medicines and vaccines (in particular by providing health insurance). Providing full vaccination of employees against COVID-19, as well as the development of DataHeart: Sport for Life sports and charity project, which is aimed at attracting as many people to sports as possible and raising funds to perform surgeries for children with heart diseases. Within this project, the company has already assisted 12 children, transferring almost UAH 1 million for surgeries, and plans to continue supporting this project.
- innovation and infrastructure. This means developing a high-quality, reliable, and sustainable telecommunications infrastructure to improve people's lives and their well-being. Datagroup plans to pay special attention to ensuring inexpensive and equal access to this infrastructure for all citizens. Datagroup helps to eliminate digital inequality in our country and continues to connect schools and hospitals located in remote areas to satellite Internet. This year, Datagroup launched a large-scale project to modernize the company's all-Ukrainian baseline network. The investment in the project will amount to USD 20 million. Cisco (USA), a world leader in the production of network equipment, became the vendor of the project. This project makes a significant contribution to the development of telecommunications infrastructure throughout Ukraine and will allow its residents to use telecom and IT services of even higher quality.
- responsible consumption. Datagroup cares about the environment, and the implementation of new and development of existing environmental policies is an important area of its activities. In this direction, the company's employees participate in environmental initiatives for waste collection, cleaning of municipal parks, planting trees near offices. Energy-saving mode for office equipment and other energy-saving measures have already been introduced. Transition to electronic document flow to preserve natural resources is one of the important goals. Datagroup annually supports children's camps, regional events, music and literary festivals, which draw attention to environmental and social issues in the regions, and provides them with communication.
