Datagroup national communications service provider launched a new international fiber-optical network with capacity of 100 Gbit/s. The channel, which connects the company's communication centers in Kiev and Frankfurt (Germany), passes through several countries, such as Poland, the Czech Republic and Germany.
Continued growth in capacity and fierce competition in the Internet access market, as well as the data transmission market necessitated the need to build its own international network. In addition to company cost optimization and satisfaction of the need in new capacities, the new channel ensures connection between Frankfurt and Kiev with the least possible delay, which improves the quality of services for customers that are sensitive to delays, and enables them to comfortably use applications, operating in the real time.
The length of this fiber-optical network from Lviv to Frankfurt comrises 1783 km. The good technical network design allowed not only to provide traffic and satisfy the needs of Ukrainian consumers, but also to make this area part of “the New Silk Road” from China to Europe.
"This channel has become part of a larger REAL (Rapid Europe Asia Link) project, which is a network between China and Western Europe. The launch of a new section of the fiber-optical network across Poland for our company means that we can now offer the shortest connection between China and Germany, and reduce the delay between Hong Kong and Frankfurt to less than 160 ms, " said Datagroup Technical Director Alexander Vereshchak .
It is to be recalled that Datagroup national operator increased the capacity of Kiev-Frankfurt international channel via Poland, reaching a level of 100 Gb/s, and increased thecapacity of channels in the Kiev-Warsaw area up to 100 Gbit/s in November last year. The need to expand the channel was caused by significant growth in the volume of traffic, transmitted over Datagroup networks.
