During the two years of the Great War, Ukrainian top businesses together allocated UAH 48 billion to the country's humanitarian needs and support for the army. Among the largest donors are the companies DATAGROUP and Volia, whose contribution reached UAH 340 million. Mykhailo Shelemba, CEO of the companies, told where the aid was going.
From the first days of the full-scale invasion, the focus of the companies DATAGROUP and Volia was on helping the Armed Forces, the state and the population that suffered as a result of the hostilities. Mykhailo Shelemba believes that business cannot survive in a country in which there is a war, if it does not join the aid. Moreover, the business resource makes assistance more systematic.
"This is not only about corporate social responsibility, it is our moral duty. After all, without the fact that the country wins the war between the Russian Federation and Ukraine, it will be impossible for any business to continue, - says Mykhailo. - Everyone should do what they can to preserve the country in which they can continue to work. But to support those who cannot cope on their own."
Thus, the companies DATAGROUP and Volia sent a lot of sought-after telecom equipment to the Armed Forces for the total amount of UAH 295 million - walkie-talkies, receivers, repeaters, antennas, equipment for satellite communication and countering cyber attacks. Front-line medics of the Lviv Defense Cluster were provided with a large batch of body armor. We contributed UAH 10 million to the presidential charitable platform UNITED24. UAH 1.1 million was allocated to the purchase of pumps for pumping out water, basic necessities and other items for the population of Kherson Region after the occupiers blew up the Kherson HPP. Free Internet was connected to more than 500 schools, bomb shelters and humanitarian centers. For a long time, they financially supported the mission of volunteer doctors from the "Frida" BF, who provide free medical care to residents of areas close to the front line. Joined a number of other important cases.
Since 2023, the companies DATAGROUP and Volia have been supporting the "Life Saving Center" Foundation, which is involved in evacuating seriously injured people from hot spots, with a monthly contribution of UAH 1 million.
"We have chosen three main areas of support for ourselves - the Armed Forces, the wounded and children," emphasizes Mykhailo Shelemba. "And now the greatest attention is given to helping wounded soldiers and war orphans."
The "OUR CHILDREN" project, which appeared on the initiative of Mykhailo Shelemba in cooperation with the BF "I'm the Future of Ukraine", helps children who lost one or both parents as a result of the war. This non-governmental program is implemented jointly with the Juvenile Police of Ukraine.
Now, thanks to the partners, the project already supports 112 children, 68 of them are under the direct care of the DATAGROUP and Volia companies. UAH 10,000 is transferred every month for the needs of each child until they reach adulthood.
"These children lost their parents because of the war, but they should not lose their future either," says Mykhailo. - Business, philanthropists, philanthropists - we can all unite to support orphaned children in growing up. Give them financial help, invite them to your company for an excursion, organize a children's party or pay for a vocational training course. This is how we can honor the memory of deceased parents and not leave children alone during the most difficult period of their lives. Get involved - it's really important."
In order to take care of more orphans and provide them with financial, legal, psychological, educational, mentoring and other assistance, the CEO of DATAGROUP and Volia companies invites Ukrainian businesses to become partners of the "OUR CHILDREN" project. You can join here.
